Holger Hantke

Holger Hantke was born in Lübeck in 1951 and studied linguistics and education in Hamburg before going on to study school and church music. He learnt to play the piano and organ at the North German Organ School in Lübeck. He has been an organist in the New Apostolic Church since 1964 and also took on the position of choirmaster of the church choir in 1970. In 1985, he was involved in setting up a church chamber orchestra and, as an arranger, wrote countless commissioned church music compositions for choir, organ and orchestra.
He also worked as a secondary school teacher of music and French. He focussed on popular music work. He directed the gospel choir in Hamburg-Blankenese very successfully for six years.
