In “My Fortress” you’ll find both!
Christoph Schoepsdau surprises with his ideas. His settings of Psalms 31 and 91 are full of jazz harmonies and funk rhythms, reminiscent of the music of Herbie Hancock or Singers Unlimited. Accompanied by piano or a rhythm section, the choir consists of three voices: soprano, alto and baritone. In three movements (Those Who Dwell – Lord, In You I Trust – My Life Is In Your Hands), Schoepsdau describes his interpretations of the themes of refuge, protection and security. “For he has given his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” takes on a whole new perspective in its musical interpretation. The parts can also be performed individually or ideally complement the Jazz Mass by Christoph Schoepsdau.
