Andreas Mücksch

Andreas Mücksch was born in Quedlinburg in 1962 to a theologian couple. He received classical piano training at the age of four. As a teenager, he gained additional experience in jazz and popular music through instrumental lessons and band work. He studied church music in Halle (Saale) from 1985 and graduated with Master’s degree. He has been church musician at St Paul’s Church in Halle since 1993 and conducts the Oratorio Choir, Youth and Children’s Choirs, orchestra and the brass band. Andreas Mücksch was honoured for his achievements in 2003 with the honorary title of Church Music Director.

As a composer, he writes German biblical musicals and musical comedies as well as Great Symphonic Works.
With international success he composed his Latin Mass in D, a symphonic rock mass for choir, orchestra, soloists and band. It was highly praised at it’s first performance at the 35th German Protestant Church Congress in Stuttgart.

Mücksch is co-organiser of a new series of church services at the Paulus Church Halle, called Jazz and Literature at Church.
